Plant Description

The flowers of Phlox ‘Russian Violet’ are a perfectly acceptable but unremarkable red-violet by day, but deepen to a rich purple-violet at dusk and dawn, and during cloudy days. Another example of what I call the ‘changeling’ phloxes. Planting it in part shade will cause the purple color to linger longer through the day. The difference in color between the times of day is so remarkable that it looks like a different plant, and indeed it had me fooled for a few years! Broad rounded florets, solid color. A tall and willowy grower.
